Scrap Happy Days - a Different Pattern Each Month

On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays in March, we will be providing the pattern for Bricks and Stones, a quilt designed by Bonnie Hunter, for you to make from your scraps at Batiks by Design Quilt Shop.  Bring your scraps and have some fun while socilizing with fellow quilters.  Both days we'll start at 10 AM.  We hope to see you there!

On Saturday, February 27th we are offering the Lollapolooza Purse class and will show you how to make this bag shown above or one using a small panel or fabric you just want to show off.  This bag works great with the Encore Purse Insert, which will be taught in April.  It's been a very popular pattern at Batiks by Design.

Toby Lischko, renowned author and teacher is coming to Batiks by Design Quilt Shop! She'll be teaching Millefiori, a gorgeous quilt featured in the March/April 2010 issue of McCall's Quilting on May 18th. More info is coming soon.

This month we are making pillowcases for CASA again.  This is what the director had to say:

It was like Christmas the other day in the CASA office when our CASAs came in to pick up their pillow cases for their assigned children!!! CASA selected the Cabbage Patch design for her little assigned preschool girl. When she presented the pillow case to the little girl, the 2 of them spent quite some time exploring the different hair colors of the Cabbage Patch children on the pillowcase. What a wonderful icebreaker!!! I know I sent you a thank you note, earlier, but just wanted you to know we have real live children who were once abused and/or neglected who are very proud owners of those pillowcases. Thank you so much!!!

Batiks by Design Quilt Shop delivered 33 pillowcases to CASA this week from last month's pillowcase donations.  They need 105 total for all the kids in the program to have one for themselves.

Sampler Magic

Our Saturday Sampler will meet again on the first Saturday in April with this gorgeous quilt called Sampler Magic, designed by Lori Smith!

The Sampler Magic quilt features two options. The $5 block is a 12" block. There is also an optional alternate block pack, with an 8" block and two 4" blocks, for an additional charge of $8.00 each month. 

Color choices are Tuscany (as shown), Black with brights, and Hoffman Challenge.  I want one of each, how about you?
